The most convenient and reliable UART adapter for your toolbox or workbench
We’ve all been there. We find ourselves in need of a USB to UART adapter, and turn to one of those cheap UART adapters you see on AliExpress, or Amazon that require you to download some shady driver from some Chinese website that your corporate firewall doesn’t like – OR – you buy an FTDI branded USB to Serial adapter, and pay a small premium and still need to hunt down drivers, that is if you even get a genuine FTDI chip!
Well Rabbit-Labs has just entered the race!
Introducing the Rabbit-Labs UART & GPIO Stamp.
Small but reliable. Simple, yet Refined... Very demure – very mindful.
No seriously though, this thing is small, measuring in at just around One-Square-Inch, Don’t let the size fool you though… this tiny module gets the job done!
Not only does it operate on both 3v and 5v TTL levels, it also offers an i2c interface as well as four, yes FOUR GPIO pins that can be used NATIVELY from windows / linux (Python libraries are available via Adafruit). no it is not a microcontroller, it lets you add GPIO to your computer!
Based around the MCP2200 by Microchip Technologies and made in the USA – this board uses the Microsoft® or Linux built-in drivers – this means no having to download any weird 3rd-party drivers if you don’t need to! it also means it’s very much plug-and-play and works out of the box with almost any modern operating system!
Oh and the best part? IT USES USB-C!

Important Note about i2c Pinout:
The pin next to R2 = SCL
The pin next to R3 = SDA

NOTE: USB CABLE NOT INCLUDED
